Virtua Fighter 2 on the Genesis was kind of a miracle back in the day—somehow squeezing 3D arcade brawlers onto a 16-bit system without completely butchering the feel. Yeah, the polygons are blocky as hell now, but back then? Mind-blowing. You’ve got the usual suspects like Akira and Sarah, plus two new faces: the lanky, judo-throwing Shun and the weirdly graceful lion-man Dural. The controls are simpler than the arcade version (no surprise there), but the timing on counters and throws still feels tight once you get used to it. I spent way too many afternoons trying to master Wolf’s suplexes while my little brother spammed Pai’s kicks. Good times.
Still holds up if you’re into retro fighters, though good luck finding anyone who remembers the shoulder-button combos.
