Game Overview

World Champ Boxing on NES is one of those games that looks simple until you actually step into the ring. You pick your fighter—some are quick but weak, others hit like a truck but move like one too—and suddenly you're bobbing, weaving, and trying not to eat a hook to the face. The controls take a minute to get used to, but once you figure out how to time your jabs and uppercuts, it feels weirdly satisfying.

What surprised me was how much it tracks—every punch thrown, landed, even the ones you whiff embarrassingly. The AI isn’t just a punching bag either; some opponents will counter you hard if you get predictable. And if you’ve got friends over, the tournament mode turns into pure chaos with eight players taking turns getting knocked out. Just don’t blame me when someone throws a controller after losing to a lucky body shot.
