Game Overview

So it's 1999, and the world's basically falling apart—earthquakes, volcanoes, the whole nine yards. Scientists are stumped, so they build these underground exploration vehicles called VZRs (though everyone just calls them Wurms). Four have already vanished without a trace, and now it's up to the fifth one—crew chief Moby's in charge, even though she's already lost her dad and her partner on previous missions. Not exactly a morale booster.

You'll spend most of your time piloting the Wurm through these wild underground tunnels, switching between tank, hover, and jet modes depending on whether you need to drill through walls or dodge lava pits. The first-person monster battles are weirdly tense—you've got this "Possibility" meter that creeps up as you either shoot weak points or let your crew analyze the creature. Sometimes talking it out works better than shooting, which feels oddly realistic for an NES game.

Then there are these sections where Moby gets out on foot, and suddenly it's a claustrophobic platformer with limited ammo and doors that won't open until you find some random item three screens back. The pistol feels useless until you realize karate kicks save bullets. Those crystals you collect? They're not just MacGuffins—each one unlocks new weapons that actually change how you approach fights. Just watch your fuel gauge in hover mode unless you enjoy sudden lithobraking.
