I picked up X-Men Legends 2: Rise of Apocalypse on the GameCube back in 2005, developed by Raven Software and published by Activision. You control a team of four mutants, swapping between them on the fly to combine their powers against waves of enemies. The main goal is to stop Apocalypse's forces from unleashing havoc, which involves a lot of screen-by-screen exploration through detailed environments, from city streets to ancient temples. Key mechanics include using each character's unique abilities to solve environmental puzzles, managing a deep skill tree for each hero, and collecting gear and stat-boosting items to customize your squad. The pacing is brisk, with a steady stream of combat encounters that can get surprisingly tough if you don't manage your team's health and energy carefully.
