Play Yoshis Safari Online

Ride Yoshi through first-person levels blasting enemies with the Super Scope—it starts awkward but turns into this weirdly satisfying rhythm of spotting and sniping Koopalings before they hit you. Those boss fights get intense for what looks like a silly light gun game.

Game Overview

Yoshi's Safari is one of those weird little SNES gems that feels totally different from any other Mario game. You're basically riding Yoshi through these first-person levels blasting everything with the Super Scope—yeah, that weird bazooka-looking controller. At first it feels kinda clunky, but after a few minutes you get into this rhythm of spotting enemies in the distance and taking them out before they can hit you.

The Koopalings stole all these jewels, so you're chasing them through forests, caves, and castles while shooting anything that moves. Some gates hide secret paths if you blast them enough, and the boss fights are surprisingly intense for what looks like a kid-friendly shooter. The two-player mode is chaotic fun—my brother and I used to argue over who got to be Mario while the other played as Luigi.

It's short and definitely shows its age now, but there's something charming about how weirdly ambitious it was for a Mario spin-off.
