Play Zen - Intergalactic Ninja (Europe) on gb Online
Play as a neon-green alien ninja slashing through mutant bugs and dodging lasers to stop some intergalactic jerk from poisoning Earth. Weird floaty jumps, but throwing shurikens never gets old.
Zen: Intergalactic Ninja came out for the Game Boy in 1993, developed by Konami and published by GameTek. It was part of that wave of licensed comic book games that tried to translate colorful characters into monochrome action. The hardware limitations were obvious, but it had a certain charm if you were into sci-fi ninja adventures.
You control Zen, a green-skinned ninja from another planet, moving screen by screen through side-scrolling levels. Your main goal is to defeat Lord Contaminous, who plans to poison Earth. You use a sword for close combat and throw shurikens at enemies like mutants and robots. The game involves platforming with occasionally awkward jumps, collecting power-ups, and navigating environmental hazards. It can be tough in spots, with some cheap enemy placements, but landing a string of shuriken throws feels satisfying. Playing it is a mix of frustration and simple, repetitive fun.
