Zool 2 came out in 1993 as part of the MS-DOS Classic Games lineup, developed by Gremlin Graphics. It was a time when side-scrolling platformers were everywhere, and this one stood out with its vibrant, surreal art style and energetic soundtrack. You play as Zool, an intergalactic ninja, or his friend Zooz, each with slightly different abilities, trying to save the universe from the villain Krool.
You control Zool or Zooz through a series of themed worlds, jumping on platforms, defeating enemies with a mix of melee attacks and projectiles, and collecting items like fruit and power-ups. The game is structured screen by screen, with some hidden areas and occasional minigames that break up the action. It moves fast and can be quite challenging, with precise jumps and quick reactions needed to progress. Playing it feels like a colorful, chaotic dash through an imaginative cartoon universe.
Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
