Zork I: The Great Underground Empire came out in 1980 as part of the MS-DOS Classic Games series, published by Personal Software Inc. It was one of those early text adventures that ran on home computers when graphics were sparse and imagination did most of the work. You spent a lot of time staring at a blank screen, waiting for the next line of text to transport you somewhere strange.
You play an unnamed adventurer exploring a vast underground world, typing commands to move between locations, solve puzzles, and gather treasure. Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
