Play Zork I Online

Zork I came out in 1980 as part of the MS-DOS Classic Games series, developed by Infocom. It was a text adventure, one of the defining games of its era, where your imagination did all the visual work. You played it on a simple command line, typing out what you wanted to do next, and the game would describe your surroundings in plain, sometimes ominous, text.

You control an unnamed adventurer exploring the ruins of a great underground empire. Your main goal is to find the twenty treasures hidden throughout the world and return them to a trophy case. You move from location to location by typing directions like "north" or "east," solve intricate word-based puzzles to progress, and manage a limited inventory of items like a sword, a lantern, and food. The pacing is slow and deliberate; the difficulty is high, often punishing guesswork with sudden, fatal consequences. It feels like being lost in a massive, dangerous story where every decision matters.

Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
