Game Overview

I picked up 2 in 1 - Sonic Pinball Party & Columns Crown on Game Boy Advance back when it came out. It was a budget release, no big publisher behind it, just one of those cartridges that offered two distinct games for the price of one. At the time, the GBA had tons of these compilations, but this one stood out because it mashed up Sega's speedy mascot with a classic puzzle game, giving you two very different ways to kill time.

In Sonic Pinball Party, you control the flippers across several themed tables, bouncing Sonic to hit targets, trigger missions, and rack up huge scores. The main goal is to complete stage objectives and unlock secrets, with mechanics like multi-ball and timed jackpots keeping things hectic. Columns Crown is the complete opposite; you rotate falling gem trios to match three or more of the same color in rows or columns, clearing the board before it fills up. Both games are easy to pick up but hard to put down, with pinball offering fast, chaotic fun and Columns demanding careful, strategic placement. It feels satisfying to switch between them depending on whether you want reflex action or a calm, thoughtful challenge.
