Game Overview

If you grew up with Spyro on PS1, this GBA double pack might surprise you at first—it’s top-down instead of 3D, more like a tiny Zelda with fire breath. But after a few minutes, it clicks. You’re still collecting gems, roasting enemies, and bouncing between bite-sized levels, just with a different camera angle.

Season of Ice throws you into a frosty mess where fairies are getting turned into ice statues (rude), and Season of Flame has you chasing down stolen dragon fire from these little gremlin Rhynocs. Both games have that same snarky Spyro charm, just condensed for the GBA. The puzzles are simple but satisfying, and the controls feel surprisingly good for a handheld adaptation.

It’s not perfect—some of the hit detection can be iffy, and the camera occasionally hides secrets—but for a portable Spyro fix, it’s way more fun than it has any right to be. Perfect for short bursts or if you just miss that purple dragon’s attitude.
