Game Overview

I remember picking up 20th Century Frog from a bargain bin of MS-DOS Classic Games, one of those zero-budget releases with no publisher or developer clearly credited. It was typical of the era, a quirky platformer that felt both ambitious and a little rough around the edges, built for machines that hummed with the sound of a floppy drive loading.

You control a frog hopping through levels themed around different decades, starting in the 1900s and moving forward. The main goal is simply to reach the end of each stage while avoiding period-specific obstacles like roaring Model T Fords in the 1910s or falling disco balls in the 1970s. You use your tongue to snag flies for points and occasionally to latch onto certain objects to swing across gaps. The pacing is relentless, with hazards appearing suddenly and requiring quick, precise jumps. It feels like a race against time and your own reflexes, a charmingly odd scramble through a simplified version of history.

Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
