Game Overview

7th Saga 2 (or Mystic Ark if you're going by its Japanese name) is one of those SNES RPGs that slipped under the radar—which is a shame, because it's got this weird, dreamy charm most games from that era never even tried. You start by picking one of seven characters (I went with the cyborg guy first, no regrets), and before you know it, you're jumping between floating islands, haunted castles, and some places that just... don't make logical sense. The battles are tough—like, "grind-or-die" tough—but figuring out how your party's weird mix of skills works together is weirdly satisfying.

What really stuck with me, though, is how unapologetically strange it gets. One minute you're fighting robot samurai, the next you're in a pastel-colored dream world solving riddles for a talking tree. It feels like the developers threw every wild idea they had into the blender. If you can track down a fan translation or brave the Japanese version, it's worth it just to see how far 16-bit RPGs could bend reality.
