Adventure Island 2 came out on the NES in 1991, developed by Hudson Soft. It was part of that wave of late-era platformers that really pushed what the console could do, with more detailed levels and a bigger sense of adventure than a lot of earlier titles.

You control Master Higgins again, trying to rescue his girlfriend Tina from the evil witch. This time you explore a series of islands, each with branching paths and hidden caves. The big addition is the ability to ride and control several dinosaurs, each with unique abilities like breathing fire or smashing through blocks. You still collect fruit to keep your energy up, and the platforming is as demanding as ever, with precise jumps and aggressive enemies. It feels like a real step up from the first game, with more variety and a greater sense of control.
