Play Adventure Online

You grab a sword, fumble through blocky castles, and stab dragon-ducks while hunting for keys—half the time you're lost, but in a good way. The deeper you go, the weirder it gets, with secret rooms and items that keep moving on you.

Game Overview

Adventure on the Atari 2600 is one of those games that feels way ahead of its time—you’re basically dumped into this blocky little kingdom with a sword, a joystick, and zero instructions. At first, you’ll just wander around bumping into walls (a lot), but then you start finding keys, dodging dragons, and realizing some castles hide secret rooms. The dragons look like ducks, which somehow makes getting eaten by them funnier.

There are three levels, and the first one’s basically training wheels—just a small maze and one dragon to stab. Level 2 opens up the whole kingdom with hidden stuff everywhere, and Level 3? Total chaos. Items get shuffled around randomly, so good luck remembering where anything is. The magic "reincarnation" trick saves you when a dragon inevitably snacks on you, but half the challenge is just figuring out how to carry items without dropping them at the worst moment.

It’s clunky, weird, and honestly kind of brilliant for something from 1980. You’ll either love it or throw your joystick across the room.
