Game Overview

Air Force Commander came out in 1992 as part of the MS-DOS Classic Games series, developed by Impressions Games. It was a strategy title from a time when many games demanded patience and careful planning, fitting right in with other thoughtful simulations of the era.

You control NATO air forces across Western Europe, managing bases, assigning missions, and directing interceptors against incoming threats. The main objective is to defend your territory from waves of enemy bombers and fighters without depleting your resources. Key mechanics include monitoring radar screens to detect hostiles, scrambling fighters in time to engage, and managing limited supplies of fuel and missiles. The pacing is deliberate, with tension building as multiple contacts approach; one mistake can cascade into a sector-wide failure. It feels like a high-stakes game of chess played in real time against a relentless opponent.

Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
