Aladdin on the NES came out in 1994, developed by NMS Software. It was one of those later NES releases that tried to squeeze a bit more out of the aging hardware, based on the Disney animated film. You control Aladdin through a series of side-scrolling levels set in and around Agrabah.
You guide Aladdin through screen by screen exploration, using his scimitar to deflect enemy attacks and tossing apples to stun guards from a distance. The main goal is to rescue Princess Jasmine from Jafar, which involves navigating palace traps, avoiding lava pits, and outrunning a particularly relentless carpet ride. The jumping can feel a bit floaty, and some enemy patterns demand precise timing, making certain sections quite challenging. It feels like a straightforward, action-focused platformer with a distinct visual style that captures the movie's aesthetic.
