I picked up Aladdin for the Game Boy Color back around 2000, a Ubi Soft release that came out when handhelds were really hitting their stride with colorful, movie-based adventures. You control Aladdin through a series of side-scrolling stages, slashing with your sword at enemies like palace guards and desert bandits. The main goal is to rescue Jasmine from Jafar, which means navigating Agrabah’s streets, dodging traps, and occasionally hopping onto the magic carpet for some faster-paced flying sections. You collect gems to earn extra lives, and the difficulty can spike in certain areas, especially when precision jumping is required. It feels like a compact, sometimes challenging tribute to the movie, and finishing a tough level gives you that classic handheld satisfaction.
