Play Alone in the Dark 2 - Demo Online

You swap between a detective and a kid—dodge gangsters as Grace or blast them as Carnby, rigging ridiculous traps with whatever junk you find. That pirate ship in the caves? Yeah, it gets weirder from there.

Game Overview

Alone in the Dark 2, released by Infogrames in 1993, was part of the MS-DOS classic games lineup that pushed early 3D adventure into strange new territory. It arrived at a time when polygonal characters and fixed camera angles were still novel, offering a mix of horror and action that felt ambitious, if occasionally rough around the edges. The demo gave players a taste of its eerie mansion and pirate-infested island without the commitment of the full game's sometimes unforgiving design.

You control private investigator Edward Carnby, navigating screen by screen through a spooky environment filled with traps and enemies. The main goal is to survive and uncover clues while fending off gangsters with limited weapons or environmental tricks. Signature mechanics include switching between characters (like young Grace Saunders) for different perspectives, combining items in your inventory to solve puzzles, and engaging in clunky but tense combat. The pacing is deliberate, often demanding careful observation rather than quick reflexes. It feels like stepping into a low-budget horror film where every corner could hide something dangerous or just another dead end.

Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
