Antz: Extreme Racing came out on the Game Boy Advance in 2002, developed by Magic Pockets. It was part of that wave of licensed games trying to grab attention on the handheld, a time when you saw a lot of familiar characters shoehorned into unexpected genres. This one took the cast from the animated film and put them behind the wheel, or whatever an ant uses to steer a racing machine made from twigs and bottle caps.

You control one of several ant racers, each with their own vehicle, navigating side-scrolling tracks filled with hazards like puddles, magnifying glasses focusing deadly sunlight, and sticky globs of gum. The main objective is straightforward: finish first in a series of cups. Key mechanics include collecting power-ups, like speed-boosting fireflies or offensive ladybugs to lob at opponents, and managing your ant's stamina, which drains if you crash too often. The races are fast and the AI is fiercely competitive, making it a challenge to hold the lead. It feels like a chaotic, slightly unpolished scramble where a single mistake can cost you the entire race.
