Game Overview

Armorik the Viking - The Eight Conquests is one of those MS-DOS games that somehow slipped under the radar but absolutely shouldn’t have. You play as this hulking Viking with an axe, charging through side-scrolling levels that feel like a mix of combat, puzzles, and "oh-crap-how-do-I-get-past-this" moments. The first time I played, I lost three lives to a spike trap I didn’t even see coming—classic 90s difficulty.

The pixel art has that rough, nostalgic charm, and the MIDI soundtrack? Surprisingly epic for something that probably came on a floppy disk. It’s not just mindless hacking and slashing, either—some levels force you to stop and think, like figuring out how to lure a troll into breaking down a wall for you. And yeah, you’ll die. A lot. But when you finally beat that one boss after a dozen tries, it feels like a real victory.

If you miss the days when games didn’t hold your hand, Armorik’s blend of Norse myth and old-school platforming is worth dusting off your DOS emulator for.

Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
