Game Overview

Prophecy 1: The Viking Child came out in 1991 for MS-DOS, developed by Imagitec Design Inc. It was part of that wave of side-scrolling platformers that really defined the early PC gaming era, before everything shifted toward 3D. The game had a distinct look and feel, with its Norse mythology setting and colorful, if sometimes cramped, environments.

You control a young Viking who explores a series of interconnected screens, fighting monsters with a sword and solving environmental puzzles. The main goal is to rescue your father by collecting runes and defeating bosses. Signature mechanics include screen-by-screen exploration, where each new area presents enemies and obstacles, and simple combat that relies on timing your strikes. The pacing is deliberate, and the difficulty can be unforgiving, with precise jumps and enemy patterns to learn. It feels like a methodical, sometimes frustrating challenge that rewards patience and careful play.

Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
