Game Overview

Asterix & Obelix on the SNES is one of those games that just nails the vibe of the comics—cartoonish, chaotic, and full of Roman-smashing fun. You pick either Asterix (fast, but hits like a feather) or Obelix (slow, but sends enemies flying with one punch), and then it’s off to wreck legionaries across forests, beaches, and even inside a Roman camp. The animations are goofy, the sound effects are exaggerated, and yeah, Obelix still can’t stop talking about wild boar.

It’s not the deepest beat-’em-up—you won’t find combos or special moves here—but there’s something satisfying about how weighty Obelix feels when he clobbers three guys at once. And if you’ve got a friend for co-op? Even better. The screen gets messy with enemies, power-ups, and the occasional magic potion that turns you into an unstoppable wrecking ball for a few seconds. It’s short, silly, and exactly what you’d want from an Asterix game.
