You control either Asterix or Obelix, each with their own strengths; Asterix is faster and uses a sword, while Obelix is slower but can break certain walls and defeat armored enemies easily. The goal is to rescue Getafix from the Romans by fighting through levels filled with legionaries, wild boars, and environmental obstacles. You explore screen by screen, collecting potions from barrels and throwing enemies off-screen. The pacing is brisk, though some sections can be tricky with limited continues. It feels like a straightforward, action-heavy romp through Gaul.
