I picked up Asterix on the Game Boy back in 1993, a little side-scroller from Infogrames. It was a time when licensed games were a real gamble, but this one had a certain charm. You controlled either Asterix or Obelix, and the goal was simple: rescue Getafix and the druid's kidnapped apprentice from the Romans.
You move from screen to screen, punching legionaries and breaking open barrels for food to restore health. Asterix can find a temporary sword, and Obelix just hurls menhirs at everyone. The pacing is brisk, and it gets tough quickly with more enemies and tricky jumps. It feels like a straightforward, chaotic brawl straight out of the comics.
