I remember playing Asterix & Obelix on MS-DOS back in 1995, when Infogrames released it as part of their Classic Games lineup. It was a time when side-scrolling beat 'em ups were common, and this one fit right in, offering a straightforward but entertaining take on the beloved comic series. You could tell it was made with fans in mind, even if the graphics and controls felt typical for the era.

You control either Asterix or Obelix, each with their own fighting style; Asterix is quicker with his fists, while Obelix delivers slower, heavier punches that send Romans flying. The main goal is to fight through screen after screen of enemies, from dense forests to Egyptian settings, collecting food and potions to keep your health up. The pacing is brisk, with constant enemy waves that keep you on your toes, though the difficulty can spike unexpectedly in later levels. It feels satisfying to land those big hits and watch soldiers tumble, even if the repetition sets in after a while.

Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
