Game Overview

Battle Jockey (Japan) is one of those SNES games that makes you do a double-take—horse racing, but with fireballs and tornadoes? Somehow, it works. You pick your jockey and steed (some look like they escaped from a fantasy novel), then it’s off to the races—except half the time, you’re too busy dodging lightning strikes or lobbing spells at the guy in first place.

The pixel art’s got that classic ‘90s charm, all bright colors and exaggerated animations. My first race, I accidentally summoned a whirlwind and wiped out half the field—including myself. It’s chaotic, a little janky, and honestly kind of glorious for it. If you’ve ever wanted to see a unicorn get hit by a meteor mid-gallop, this is your game.

Not gonna lie, the menus are all in Japanese, but after a race or two, you’ll figure out which button makes the horse go "zoom" and which one makes the ground explode. Worth digging up if you love weird, forgotten SNES gems.
