Big Business came out in 1990 as part of the MS-DOS Classic Games lineup, published by Mindscape. It was one of those early economic simulations that felt right at home on a beige desktop tower, sitting alongside other management titles that asked you to think more than shoot.
You control a budding entrepreneur starting with a single small business, like a lemonade stand or a bakery, and the goal is to grow it into a massive corporate empire. The core mechanics involve setting prices, managing supply chains, and expanding into new industries; you watch profits rise and fall based on your decisions, and one miscalculation can lead to rapid financial collapse. The pacing is deliberate, almost methodical, and the difficulty comes from balancing expansion with stability. It feels like a constant, tense juggling act where every choice carries weight.
Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
