Game Overview

Bionic Commando: Elite Forces on Game Boy Color throws you right into the action as a bionic soldier with one seriously cool mechanical arm. The Avar Empire’s about to invade, and it’s your job to smash their plans—oh, and rescue Commander Joe while you’re at it.

That arm isn’t just for show. You’ll be swinging across gaps, yanking yourself up to ledges, and smacking enemies with it like a whip. At first, I kept forgetting I could use it to grab overhead handles, but once it clicks, moving around feels surprisingly smooth for a GBC game. There’s a pistol and grenades too, but honestly? The arm’s the star.

Fun little detail: you pick between a male or female commando at the start. Doesn’t change much, but it’s a nice touch. Just don’t expect a walk in the park—some of those platforming sections get pretty mean if you miss a swing. The game’s a solid portable take on the arcade classic, even if the screen’s a bit cramped sometimes.
