Blood Storm came out in 1994 as an arcade fighting game developed by Strata. It arrived during a crowded era for the genre, when cabinets were everywhere and every new release tried to stand out with some kind of hook. This one had its own flavor, a little rougher and more chaotic than many of its polished competitors.

You control one of several monstrous fighters, each with a unique move set, and battle through one-on-one matches across various stages. The main objective is to defeat your opponent using a combination of standard attacks, special moves, and screen-filling super attacks. Two mechanics define the experience: a limb dismemberment system that lets you literally break off an opponent’s arm or leg during combat, altering their available moves, and a fatality-like finishing move called a "Death Move" that plays out with detailed, gory pixel animation. The pacing is fast and aggressive, with matches often decided by well-timed combos and brutal reversals. It feels like a messy, unpredictable scrap where every hit has weight and the outcome is never certain until someone’s head comes off.
