Bomberman Story on the GBA surprised me—I went in expecting the usual bomb-dropping chaos, but there’s actually a goofy little story tying everything together. You’re still blowing up walls and dodging enemies, but now there’s this weird charm to it, like someone gave the classic formula a shot of personality.
The first few levels ease you in with those satisfying "aha" moments when you trap an enemy between two explosions, but soon you’re dealing with switches, hidden passages, and bosses that actually make you think before spamming bombs. And yeah, the multiplayer’s still here if you want to ruin friendships over a link cable.
It’s not reinventing the wheel, but it’s Bomberman with just enough new tricks to feel worth playing even if you’ve memorized the older games. The pixel art’s crisp, the explosions pop, and somehow, that ridiculous plot about saving Bombland stuck with me.
