Bomberman Story DS is basically classic Bomberman but with a weird little story mode slapped on top—and honestly, it kind of works. You’ve still got the same grid-based chaos where you’re dropping bombs to blast through obstacles and enemies, but now there’s this goofy cyberpunk-ish plot about Bomberman getting kidnapped by robots. The puzzles actually make you think a bit more than the usual arcade-style levels, forcing you to time explosions just right or bait enemies into traps.

Multiplayer’s still the best part, though—nothing beats cramming four people onto one DS screen and watching friendships crumble over badly placed bombs. The AI can be a little cheap sometimes, but the campaign’s short enough that it doesn’t overstay its welcome. If you’ve ever wanted Bomberman with a side of silly dialogue, this one’s worth a detonation or two.
