1992 Amiga action racing/driving game. Features side-scrolling platforming, space chase sequences, switch puzzles, and block puzzles. Includes shooting, power-ups, and enemy encounters.
Borobodur: The Planet of Doom is this weird, janky-but-charming Amiga gem where you play as Special Agent Johnson, trying to stop a mad scientist from plunging the universe into a tech-less dark age. Most of the time, you're jumping through side-scrolling levels, hunting for hidden keys or switches while blasting aliens with a gun that gets hilariously overpowered if you find the right upgrades.
Then out of nowhere, the game throws these bizarre driving sections where you're piloting a spaceship from behind-the-back view, dodging enemy fire and boosting through asteroid fields. Oh, and there's also these puzzle levels where you're sliding blocks around under a time limit—like someone mashed three different games together and somehow made it work.
It's clunky by modern standards, but there's something oddly satisfying about the way it keeps switching things up just when you think you've got the hang of it. The pixel art's got that gritty Amiga charm, and the soundtrack nails the "urgent space spy" vibe.
