Game Overview
Borobodur: The Planet of Doom is one of those weird, ambitious Amiga games that throws a bunch of genres together and somehow makes it work. You play as Agent Johnson, trying to stop a mad scientist from plunging the universe into a tech-less dark age—which, honestly, sounds like a pretty bad Tuesday.
Most of the time, you're jumping through side-scrolling levels, hunting for hidden objects while dodging enemies and flipping switches to unlock doors. The shooting feels clunky at first, but once you grab a few power-ups, your gun actually starts behaving like it should. Then, out of nowhere, the game switches to this behind-the-ship flying section where you're boosting past enemy fire, and it's a completely different vibe. Oh, and there's a puzzle mode where you're sliding blocks against a timer, just to keep you on your toes.
It's janky in that classic '90s way, but there's something weirdly charming about how it refuses to stick to one idea. If you can handle the occasional frustration, it's a fun little time capsule.
