Boy And His Blob - Trouble On Blobolonia, A is a weird little NES puzzle-platformer where you feed jellybeans to a blob that transforms into different tools. The first time I played, I kept forgetting which color did what—turns out the lime one turns him into a ladder, which would’ve saved me a lot of falling into pits earlier.

The puzzles are simple at first, but some later screens feel like trial and error. The blob’s AI isn’t great—sometimes he just stands there while you’re mashing the button to call him. Still, there’s something charming about the way it all looks, like a children’s book with pastel colors and those big, round blob eyes.

It’s not the most polished NES game, but I kept playing just to see what the next jellybean would do. The blob turning into a trampoline or a rocket is still oddly satisfying.
