Cap'n Carnage came out on the Amiga in 1991, published by Energize. It was one of those many action games from the era that didn't try to reinvent the wheel, just offered a solid, straightforward challenge. You played as the captain, a space pirate, thrown into a series of hostile environments.

You control the Cap'n, navigating him screen by screen through maze-like alien bases. Your main goal is to find and destroy the reactor core in each level to progress. You'll blast a variety of alien creatures with your starting laser, and you can collect power-ups that change your weapon, like a spread shot or homing missiles. The levels are filled with environmental hazards, like crushing pistons and electrified floors, that you must carefully time your movements around. The pacing is relentless, and the difficulty is unforgiving, demanding precise jumps and quick shooting. It feels like a tense, methodical scramble through a dangerous and claustrophobic outpost.
