Play Car and Driver Online

Pick a car (even a minivan, for some reason) and wrestle with slippery physics while dodging AI drivers who can’t stay in their lanes. The tracks get weird—imagine drifting past food court kiosks in a mall parking lot at 90mph.

Game Overview

Car and Driver on MS-DOS nails that late '80s/early '90s racing vibe where everything feels slightly too fast and the physics are questionable in the best way. You pick from a mix of real-world cars (some weird choices in there—who races a minivan?) and tear through tracks that go from legit circuits to bizarre stuff like a mall parking lot full of obstacles.

The menu looks ripped straight from the magazine, which is a nice touch if you remember flipping through Car & Driver as a kid. The AI opponents drive like they’ve had too much caffeine, swerving all over the place, and the replays let you watch your terrible crashes from every angle. Modem multiplayer was a thing, but good luck getting that to work now.

It’s janky, chaotic, and exactly what you’d expect from an old-school racing sim trying to be semi-serious while letting you drift a Testarossa through a shopping center.

Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
