Game Overview

So, Cars: Hook International on the DS—it’s basically what you’d expect from a Cars racing game, but with a few fun quirks. You start off as Lightning McQueen (obviously), and the controls are simple enough—just steer with the D-pad and tap buttons for boosts or drifts. The tracks are decently varied, from desert loops to tight city streets, and yeah, you’ll occasionally catch yourself grinning when you pull off a last-second overtake.

What surprised me was the stunt system—hit ramps just right, and you can flip or spin mid-air for extra nitro. It’s not Burnout, but it adds a little flair. The AI isn’t brutal, so it’s good for quick sessions, though some of the later races do get sneaky with shortcuts. Graphics are bright and cartoony, which fits the vibe, and the music? Cheesy but in that nostalgic early-2000s way.

If you’ve got a soft spot for movie tie-in racers, this one’s a solid time-killer. Just don’t expect a masterpiece.
