Castlevania: Order of Ecclesia is one of those DS gems that still holds up. You play as Shanoa, a warrior with these wild glyph abilities—basically magic tattoos you absorb from enemies and the environment. At first, I kept spamming the same attacks, but then I realized mixing and matching glyphs (fire in one hand, a sword in the other) is where the combat really shines.
The levels are these bite-sized chunks perfect for handheld play, but don’t let that fool you—some of the boss fights will wreck you if you’re not careful. The art’s got that classic gothic Castlevania vibe, all moody castles and eerie forests, but with just enough DS-era charm. And yeah, the soundtrack slaps, obviously.
It’s not quite Symphony of the Night, but it’s close—and honestly, the glyph system makes it stand out. Just don’t get too attached to your favorite combo, because the game loves throwing curveballs that force you to adapt.
