Castlevania: Vampire's Kiss came out for the Super Nintendo in 1995, developed and published by Konami. You control Richter Belmont, a vampire hunter armed with the iconic whip, and your goal is to rescue Annette and her friend Maria from Dracula's clutches. The gameplay is classic side scrolling action; you move screen by screen through the castle, using your whip and sub weapons like axes or holy water to clear out all manner of gothic monsters. A key mechanic is finding and using item crashes, which are super moves that consume a lot of hearts but can clear the screen or devastate a boss. The pacing is deliberate, the platforming demands precision, and the enemy placement is often cruel, making it a challenging but fair experience for those who persist. It feels like a test of your timing and patience, where every new room is a small puzzle of how to survive the ambush.
