Game Overview

Castlevania [T-Port] is one of those NES games that feels punishing but fair—mostly. You play as Simon Belmont, whipping candles for hearts and dodging medusa heads that fly in the worst possible arcs. The first few rooms teach you real quick: jump wrong, and a bat knocks you into a pit.

The whip upgrades feel great when you finally get them, but some of the hidden walls are so obscure you’d never find them without already knowing. I remember getting stuck on the Frankenstein boss for days, just learning his pattern through brute repetition. And Dracula’s second phase? That teleport is brutal.

It’s stiff by modern standards, but there’s something satisfying about mastering the rhythm of it. Castlevania [T-Port] doesn’t hold your hand, but it makes every small victory count.
