Game Overview

Champion of the Raj came out in 1991 for MS-DOS, published by Martech Games Ltd. It was one of those strategy titles that felt right at home on the platform, mixing resource management with a historical setting in a way that was common but not always well executed. You take on the role of a British colonial administrator in India, tasked with expanding influence while managing local unrest and competing interests.

You control your colonial outposts across a map of India, directing resources, building infrastructure, and negotiating with local rulers. The main objective is to maintain control and expand your territory without sparking a full-scale rebellion. Key mechanics include balancing economic output with military readiness, handling random events like droughts or uprisings, and making diplomatic choices that can either stabilize the region or backfire spectacularly. The pacing is deliberate, with tension building as small crises compound into larger threats. It feels like a constant, precarious balancing act where one wrong move can unravel everything you've built.

Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
