Play Championship Motocross 2001 featuring Ricky Carmichael Online

Tilt your bike around tight supercross turns and send it flying off jumps—somehow this GBC racer nails the weight of landing big air. Hart Attacks in freestyle mode feel ridiculous in the best way.

Game Overview

Championship Motocross 2001 is one of those rare Game Boy Color games that actually pulls off 3D racing without looking like a total mess. The bikes tilt into turns, the jumps feel weighty, and somehow they crammed in real riders like Carmichael—which blew my mind back in the day.

You’ve got a mix of tight supercross tracks and wide-open outdoor courses, and the freestyle mode is where things get wild. Trying to land Hart Attacks (basically upside-down suicide jumps) on a tiny GBC screen shouldn’t work, but it weirdly does. The controls take a lap or two to click, but once they do, you’ll be whipping the bike sideways mid-air like it’s nothing.

For a handheld motocross game from 2001, it holds up way better than it has any right to.
