Change Air Blade came out in arcades in 2003, developed by SkyTech Studios. It was part of that wave of 3D mech shooters that tried to stand out with a unique control scheme, back when cabinets were still competing for attention with home consoles. You don't see many like it anymore.

You pilot a transforming aircraft, switching between a fast jet and a slower, more powerful humanoid robot on the fly. The goal is to survive each stage, clearing waves of smaller enemies before taking on massive screen-filling bosses. Your main tools are a standard shot and a close-range blade attack that does heavy damage but leaves you exposed. The game is brutally difficult, demanding precise timing and constant mode switching to handle the dense bullet patterns. It feels like a high-stakes dance, where one wrong move ends everything.
