Game Overview

Blade came out on the Game Boy Color in 2000, published by Activision. It was part of that wave of licensed games that tried to bring action movies to the small screen, and it stood out for its darker tone and surprisingly solid mechanics compared to some other handheld titles from that era.

You control Blade, the daywalker, moving through screen by screen environments like city streets and underground labs. Your main goal is to hunt vampires, using a mix of sword slashes and projectile weapons you pick up along the way. Combat is close and deliberate; you can’t just button mash. Enemies swarm quickly, and the game forces you to time your attacks and manage your limited ammo. The pacing is tense, and the difficulty can spike without much warning. Playing it feels like a careful, sometimes punishing dance between aggression and survival.
