Pilot a clunky mech that somehow moves just right—dodging missile barrages between crunching metal and screen-filling bosses. Gritty pixel explosions make every hit feel like a junkyard collision.

Choutetsu Brikin'ger - Iron Clad came out in arcades in 1995, developed and published by Data East. It was part of that mid-90s wave of mech games, sitting alongside other titles that tried to capture the weight and noise of giant robots without the gloss of bigger franchises. The visuals had that specific, slightly grimy Data East look, all industrial browns and heavy pixel work.
You control a slow, heavily armored robot, moving it through side-scrolling stages filled with enemy machines and environmental hazards. Your main goal is to survive each area and defeat the large boss waiting at the end. The game uses a two-button setup: one for your standard vulcan shot and another for a powerful, screen-clearing bomb attack that is in limited supply. You also have a short-range melee attack for when enemies get too close, which happens often due to the tight spaces and aggressive enemy patterns. The pacing is deliberate, almost sluggish, forcing you to plan movements carefully rather than react quickly. It feels like piloting a tank through a scrap metal avalanche, where every small victory is earned through stubborn persistence.
