Game Overview

I first played Clyde's Revenge back in the mid-90s, when it came out as part of the MS-DOS Classic Games collection from Moonlite Software. It was one of those side-scrolling platformers that felt right at home among the pixelated adventures of the era, not trying to reinvent the wheel but offering a solid, challenging experience for anyone with a keyboard and a little patience.

You control Clyde, a nimble adventurer on a quest to recover stolen treasures from a cursed castle. The game plays screen by screen; you jump across gaps, avoid enemies like floating skulls and bouncing fireballs, and collect magic stones to progress. Combat is simple but precise, using a short-range sword swipe that demands good timing, especially with enemies that respawn if you leave and re-enter a room. The difficulty is unforgiving, with instant death pits and limited checkpoints, so every jump and enemy encounter feels tense. It captures that classic trial-and-error rhythm where each failure teaches you something new.

Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
