Counter Action came out in 1997 as part of the MS-DOS Classic Games series, published by Mindscape International GmbH. It was a straightforward action game from that era, focused on quick, mission-based combat rather than complex strategy or story.

You control a lone commando, moving through enemy territory to complete objectives like destroying radar installations or rescuing prisoners. The gameplay involves screen by screen exploration, using a mix of firearms and grenades to clear out soldiers and vehicles. The pacing is fast, and the difficulty can be unforgiving, with limited health and aggressive enemies. It feels tense and immediate, demanding quick reflexes and careful movement through each hostile area.

Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
