Crystal Caves came out in 1991 as part of the MS-DOS Classic Games lineup, published by Apogee Software. It was one of those early side-scrolling platformers that felt right at home on a PC with a keyboard, back before gamepads were standard. The visuals were colorful and crisp for the time, with a clean look that made it easy to see what you were doing, even in the darker cave sections.

You control Mylo Steamwitz, an interstellar delivery guy who ends up exploring a series of alien caves. Your goal is to collect crystals scattered across each level while avoiding or defeating enemies, often with a limited supply of ammo. The gameplay is methodical; you move screen by screen, figuring out how to reach platforms, trigger switches, and avoid hazards like explosive oxygen tanks that can block your path if set off carelessly. It’s not a fast-paced rush, but a thoughtful crawl where every shot and jump matters. Playing it feels like solving a spatial puzzle with just enough tension to keep you alert.

Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
