I remember when Custer's Revenge came out for the Atari 2600 in 1982. It was developed by Mystique and published by American Multiple Industries. At the time, the Atari library was full of simple, abstract games, but this one stood out for all the wrong reasons. It was controversial from the start, and not in a way that made you want to play it more than once.

You control a blocky General Custer figure who has to dodge arrows shot by Native American archers while moving across the screen. The objective is to reach a woman tied to a pole on the other side. The mechanics are basic: you move left or right and jump over incoming arrows. The pacing is slow, and the difficulty comes from the awkward, imprecise controls. Playing it feels more like a chore than a challenge, and it leaves a sour taste.
